Together with her husband Pierre Curie, she discovered the elements polonium and radium. Marie Curie was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, and remains the only person to win Nobel Prizes in two different sciences: Physics in 1903 and Chemistry in 1911. She founded the Curie Institute in Paris, which remains a major research center today.
