All were in good condition in contemporary-\nvellum binding, and in many cases the leaves were uncut.\nBut the most interesting feature of this treasure-trove was\nthe vellum-bound volume in perfect condition which sheltered\nwithin its covers Leake's edition of Fenus and Adonis dated\n15-99, a copy of\n^he Passionate Pil-\ngrim published in\nthe same year, and\na copy of Epi-\ngrammes and Elegies\nby I. D. and C. M.\nAt Middlehorough.\n(The last pamphlet\nconsisted of epi-\ngrams bySir John\nDavies, and cer-\ntain ofOvid's Ele-\ngies translated by\nChristopher Mar-\nlowe,and was issued\nin London — not,\nas stated,at Middle-\nborough — in all\nprobability in\n15-98.) This rare\nvolume of tripli-\ncate interest was\nsold in the summer\nof 1895-, by Sir\nCharles I sham, to\nMr. Christie Miller of Britwell Court, Maidenhead, together\nwith much else that was valuable in the Lamport treasure-\ntrove.
