They were of a mystical type, methought,\r\nsomething like certain pictures in the great Dutch Bible in a library at\r\nOxon, setting forth the enigmas of the Song of the Wise Man, to wit,\r\nKing Solomon. I hardly knew what to make of them; and so would as lief\r\nhave seen the roses in their stead.
