24:6 And Abraham said unto\r\nhim, Beware thou that thou bring not my son thither again.\r\n\r\n24:7 The LORD God of heaven, which took me from my father’s house, and\r\nfrom the land of my kindred, and which spake unto me, and that sware\r\nunto me, saying, Unto thy seed will I give this land; he shall send\r\nhis angel before thee, and thou shalt take a wife unto my son from\r\nthence.\r\n\r\n24:8 And if the woman will not be willing to follow thee, then thou\r\nshalt be clear from this my oath: only bring not my son thither again.\r\n\r\n24:9 And the servant put his hand under the thigh of Abraham his\r\nmaster, and sware to him concerning that matter.\r\n\r\n24:10 And the servant took ten camels of the camels of his master, and\r\ndeparted; for all the goods of his master were in his hand: and he\r\narose, and went to Mesopotamia, unto the city of Nahor.\r\n\r\n24:11 And he made his camels to kneel down without the city by a well\r\nof water at the time of the evening, even the time that women go out\r\nto draw water.\r\n\r\n24:12 And he said O LORD God of my master Abraham, I pray thee, send\r\nme good speed this day, and shew kindness unto my master Abraham.\r\n\r\n24:13 Behold, I stand here by the well of water; and the daughters of\r\nthe men of the city come out to draw water: 24:14 And let it come to\r\npass, that the damsel to whom I shall say, Let down thy pitcher, I\r\npray thee, that I may drink; and she shall say, Drink, and I will give\r\nthy camels drink also: let the same be she that thou hast appointed\r\nfor thy servant Isaac; and thereby shall I know that thou hast shewed\r\nkindness unto my master.\r\n\r\n24:15 And it came to pass, before he had done speaking, that, behold,\r\nRebekah came out, who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah, the wife of\r\nNahor, Abraham’s brother, with her pitcher upon her shoulder.\r\n\r\n24:16 And the damsel was very fair to look upon, a virgin, neither had\r\nany man known her: and she went down to the well, and filled her\r\npitcher, and came up.\r\n\r\n24:17 And the servant ran to meet her, and said, Let me, I pray thee,\r\ndrink a little water of thy pitcher.\r\n\r\n24:18 And she said, Drink, my lord: and she hasted, and let down her\r\npitcher upon her hand, and gave him drink.\r\n\r\n24:19 And when she had done giving him drink, she said, I will draw\r\nwater for thy camels also, until they have done drinking.\r\n\r\n24:20 And she hasted, and emptied her pitcher into the trough, and ran\r\nagain unto the well to draw water, and drew for all his camels.\r\n\r\n24:21 And the man wondering at her held his peace, to wit whether the\r\nLORD had made his journey prosperous or not.\r\n\r\n24:22 And it came to pass, as the camels had done drinking, that the\r\nman took a golden earring of half a shekel weight, and two bracelets\r\nfor her hands of ten shekels weight of gold; 24:23 And said, Whose\r\ndaughter art thou? tell me, I pray thee: is there room in thy father’s\r\nhouse for us to lodge in? 24:24 And she said unto him, I am the\r\ndaughter of Bethuel the son of Milcah, which she bare unto Nahor.\r\n\r\n24:25 She said moreover unto him, We have both straw and provender\r\nenough, and room to lodge in.\r\n\r\n24:26 And the man bowed down his head, and worshipped the LORD.\r\n\r\n24:27 And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of my master Abraham, who\r\nhath not left destitute my master of his mercy and his truth: I being\r\nin the way, the LORD led me to the house of my master’s brethren.\r\n\r\n24:28 And the damsel ran, and told them of her mother’s house these\r\nthings.\r\n\r\n24:29 And Rebekah had a brother, and his name was Laban: and Laban ran\r\nout unto the man, unto the well.\r\n\r\n24:30 And it came to pass, when he saw the earring and bracelets upon\r\nhis sister’s hands, and when he heard the words of Rebekah his sister,\r\nsaying, Thus spake the man unto me; that he came unto the man; and,\r\nbehold, he stood by the camels at the well.\r\n\r\n24:31 And he said, Come in, thou blessed of the LORD; wherefore\r\nstandest thou without? for I have prepared the house, and room for the\r\ncamels.\r\n\r\n24:32 And the man came into the house: and he ungirded his camels, and\r\ngave straw and provender for the camels, and water to wash his feet,\r\nand the men’s feet that were with him.\r\n\r\n24:33 And there was set meat before him to eat: but he said, I will\r\nnot eat, until I have told mine errand. And he said, Speak on.\r\n\r\n24:34 And he said, I am Abraham’s servant.\r\n\r\n24:35 And the LORD hath blessed my master greatly; and he is become\r\ngreat: and he hath given him flocks, and herds, and silver, and gold,\r\nand menservants, and maidservants, and camels, and asses.\r\n\r\n24:36 And Sarah my master’s wife bare a son to my master when she was\r\nold: and unto him hath he given all that he hath.\r\n\r\n24:37 And my master made me swear, saying, Thou shalt not take a wife\r\nto my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I dwell:\r\n24:38 But thou shalt go unto my father’s house, and to my kindred, and\r\ntake a wife unto my son.\r\n\r\n24:39 And I said unto my master, Peradventure the woman will not\r\nfollow me.\r\n\r\n24:40 And he said unto me, The LORD, before whom I walk, will send his\r\nangel with thee, and prosper thy way; and thou shalt take a wife for\r\nmy son of my kindred, and of my father’s house: 24:41 Then shalt thou\r\nbe clear from this my oath, when thou comest to my kindred; and if\r\nthey give not thee one, thou shalt be clear from my oath.\r\n\r\n24:42 And I came this day unto the well, and said, O LORD God of my\r\nmaster Abraham, if now thou do prosper my way which I go: 24:43\r\nBehold, I stand by the well of water; and it shall come to pass, that\r\nwhen the virgin cometh forth to draw water, and I say to her, Give me,\r\nI pray thee, a little water of thy pitcher to drink; 24:44 And she say\r\nto me, Both drink thou, and I will also draw for thy camels: let the\r\nsame be the woman whom the LORD hath appointed out for my master’s\r\nson.\r\n\r\n24:45 And before I had done speaking in mine heart, behold, Rebekah\r\ncame forth with her pitcher on her shoulder; and she went down unto\r\nthe well, and drew water: and I said unto her, Let me drink, I pray\r\nthee.\r\n\r\n24:46 And she made haste, and let down her pitcher from her shoulder,\r\nand said, Drink, and I will give thy camels drink also: so I drank,\r\nand she made the camels drink also.\r\n\r\n24:47 And I asked her, and said, Whose daughter art thou? And she\r\nsaid, the daughter of Bethuel, Nahor’s son, whom Milcah bare unto him:\r\nand I put the earring upon her face, and the bracelets upon her hands.\r\n\r\n24:48 And I bowed down my head, and worshipped the LORD, and blessed\r\nthe LORD God of my master Abraham, which had led me in the right way\r\nto take my master’s brother’s daughter unto his son.\r\n\r\n24:49 And now if ye will deal kindly and truly with my master, tell\r\nme: and if not, tell me; that I may turn to the right hand, or to the\r\nleft.\r\n\r\n24:50 Then Laban and Bethuel answered and said, The thing proceedeth\r\nfrom the LORD: we cannot speak unto thee bad or good.\r\n\r\n24:51 Behold, Rebekah is before thee, take her, and go, and let her be\r\nthy master’s son’s wife, as the LORD hath spoken.\r\n\r\n24:52 And it came to pass, that, when Abraham’s servant heard their\r\nwords, he worshipped the LORD, bowing himself to the earth.\r\n\r\n24:53 And the servant brought forth jewels of silver, and jewels of\r\ngold, and raiment, and gave them to Rebekah: he gave also to her\r\nbrother and to her mother precious things.\r\n\r\n24:54 And they did eat and drink, he and the men that were with him,\r\nand tarried all night; and they rose up in the morning, and he said,\r\nSend me away unto my master.\r\n\r\n24:55 And her brother and her mother said, Let the damsel abide with\r\nus a few days, at the least ten; after that she shall go.\r\n\r\n24:56 And he said unto them, Hinder me not, seeing the LORD hath\r\nprospered my way; send me away that I may go to my master.\r\n\r\n24:57 And they said, We will call the damsel, and enquire at her\r\nmouth.\r\n\r\n24:58 And they called Rebekah, and said unto her, Wilt thou go with\r\nthis man? And she said, I will go.\r\n\r\n24:59 And they sent away Rebekah their sister, and her nurse, and\r\nAbraham’s servant, and his men.\r\n\r\n24:60 And they blessed Rebekah, and said unto her, Thou art our\r\nsister, be thou the mother of thousands of millions, and let thy seed\r\npossess the gate of those which hate them.\r\n\r\n24:61 And Rebekah arose, and her damsels, and they rode upon the\r\ncamels, and followed the man: and the servant took Rebekah, and went\r\nhis way.\r\n\r\n24:62 And Isaac came from the way of the well Lahairoi; for he dwelt\r\nin the south country.\r\n\r\n24:63 And Isaac went out to meditate in the field at the eventide: and\r\nhe lifted up his eyes, and saw, and, behold, the camels were coming.\r\n\r\n24:64 And Rebekah lifted up her eyes, and when she saw Isaac, she\r\nlighted off the camel.\r\n\r\n24:65 For she had said unto the servant, What man is this that walketh\r\nin the field to meet us? And the servant had said, It is my master:\r\ntherefore she took a vail, and covered herself.\r\n\r\n24:66 And the servant told Isaac all things that he had done.\r\n\r\n24:67 And Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah’s tent, and took\r\nRebekah, and she became his wife; and he loved her: and Isaac was\r\ncomforted after his mother’s death.\r\n\r","title":"Genesis 24"},"relationships":[{"peer":"01KG2TP96Y3VDB833SF2BEP5DN","peer_label":"The King James Version of the Bible","peer_type":"reference","predicate":"in"},{"peer":"01KG2T4RGFNHVF08APV5NRS5AD","peer_label":"kjv.txt","peer_type":"file","predicate":"extractedFrom"},{"peer":"01KG2T49K0H5GDRB0G4YDTPG8H","peer_label":"Test Collection","peer_type":"collection","predicate":"collection"},{"peer":"01KG2TZ9H11BX6C2PWEQ5G4Y0W","peer_label":"Genesis 23","peer_type":"chapter","predicate":"prev"},{"peer":"01KG2TZBANH1G66RHJ3Z0P23NB","peer_label":"Genesis 25","peer_type":"chapter","predicate":"next"},{"peer":"01KG2V2B01Z5KAVPGDQ8QTA93P","peer_label":"Abraham's Instructions to His Servant","peer_type":"scene","predicate":"contains"},{"peer":"01KG2V2BCDGK9D76SZCMM57A3R","peer_label":"The Servant's Journey to Mesopotamia","peer_type":"scene","predicate":"contains"},{"peer":"01KG2V2BAFBRFHRQKBAPS1JBAT","peer_label":"The Servant's Prayer at the Well","peer_type":"scene","predicate":"contains"},{"peer":"01KG2V2C2MHEX812GHN8W8V2GN","peer_label":"Rebekah's Encounter with the Servant","peer_type":"scene","predicate":"contains"},{"peer":"01KG2V2BB9V439X37Y51EC4J09","peer_label":"The Servant Meets Rebekah's Family","peer_type":"scene","predicate":"contains"},{"peer":"01KG2V2BXDZZ06Y7PDAY2SQ684","peer_label":"The Servant's Explanation to Laban","peer_type":"scene","predicate":"contains"},{"peer":"01KG2V2BFC2K31F4V89VSF9ACP","peer_label":"Abraham's Servant Meets Rebekah","peer_type":"scene","predicate":"contains"},{"peer":"01KG2V2BBFWWG4XYYMA1EYX5F5","peer_label":"Rebekah's Family Consents","peer_type":"scene","predicate":"contains"},{"peer":"01KG2V2BD225ATJPG5WS30YZYP","peer_label":"Rebekah's Departure","peer_type":"scene","predicate":"contains"},{"peer":"01KG2V2BPC5KM1HJ15BQSXD5RG","peer_label":"Rebekah Meets Isaac","peer_type":"scene","predicate":"contains"}],"ver":3,"created_at":"2026-01-28T17:38:23.975Z","ts":"2026-01-28T17:40:33.658Z","edited_by":{"method":"manual","user_id":"01KFF0H3YRP9ZSM033AM0QJ47H"}}
